About Check-it

Check-it is a parking service that includes automatic license plate reading. We serve parking garages and those who operate parking garages by providing certain services that involve making the most of automation. How this service is provided varies depending on the type of parking garage, but there are mainly three and are a mixture of open parking spaces and parking garages.

Parking with general traffic

Parking fees are charged on an hourly basis in consultation with the parking operator. In addition to the general parking fees, a certain quota may be issued for company employees or residents who use the area and pay a subscription to the operator for it. Those cars that are within the subscription do not pay fees and the automation of the system means that if an employee starts parking outside the quota and then a space becomes available, his car goes into the quota and he stops charging.

Checkit makes a big deal of saying that they never send out fines. You can pay with a payment machine on site or pay automatically with EasyPark at selected locations. If you do not pay for parking, an invoice for the parking fee plus a ticket fee will be sent to the vehicle owner's online bank account.

Parking for companies and individuals

There has been a significant increase in the need for companies that share parking spaces or residents of apartment buildings that share parking spaces to control access. This can take the form of gates or doors that only allow cars that are registered in the system to pass through. It is possible to work with quotas, so that individuals or companies can register the appropriate cars and control access with messages, lights or simply not to open if the quota is full. This way, an individual can have 4 cars registered to them but only 2 cars in at a time. This access can also be controlled by not blocking access, but additional cars are charged a parking fee. The implementation of this is in consultation with the parking operator.

Tourist attractions

Tourist attractions are in most cases arranged so that cameras are placed at the entrance and exit of the parking lot where automatic reading takes place. At these places, payment machines are available, but it is also possible to pay online based on the license plate number. The same applies here and in other services at Check-it. There are no fines for not paying on site, but the car owner will be sent a parking fee in addition to a ticket fee, which is usually around or over 100 krónur.

NOTE! If the car is owned by another party, such as a car rental company, fees may be added from the party that owns the car.

Behind Checkit are two companies. Raförninn, which handles hardware and camera analysis, and Stefna, which handles software and system connections.

Checkit handles parking fee collection on behalf of operators and is thus a service provider and therefore does not handle the operation of parking lots or their signage.

Inquiries regarding subscriptions or tags are in most cases directed to the operator, but all inquiries regarding general billing, errors related to invoices or hardware should be sent to checkit@checkit.is

Customer service hours are from 9:00 AM to 4:00 PM, where emails are monitored and answered as quickly as possible.
