One of the more accessible places in the country to see puffins in their natural habitat. The site is open while the puffins are present from mid-April to early August.

In recent years, a lot of work and great ambition has been put into building facilities for tourists for bird watching and outdoor activities by the harbor.
A walkway has been built around the islet, a birdwatching house has been opened, and an impressive service building has now been built with exhibition space, catering facilities, restrooms, and facilities for fishermen.
Hafnarhólmann is one of the most convenient places to visit in Iceland. The area is only open during the puffin season, which runs from mid-April to August each year. While the puffins are in the area, there is a unique opportunity to observe the birds in their natural environment.
There are no fines for not paying on site, but instead using automatic lookup. In those cases, the car owner will receive a parking fee sent to their online bank account, plus a bank transfer fee of ISK 130.
NOTE! Extra parking fees from rental companies may apply if you are driving a rental car and do not pay at site.

The fee is valid all day, from midnight to midnight, regardless of which parking lot is used.
